On a personal note...
I am thrilled to join Cardiac Science with our mission to simplify and widely deploy cardiovascular technologies that improve public health. Being a husband, father, coach, veteran, and business professional, I am fully prepared and committed to increasing AED awareness and deployment throughout the state of Virginia.
I'm heartened when I learn of a save – especially when it's the life of a six-year-old boy (see video) whose life was almost certainly saved because there was a defibrillator there when he needed it.
Can you be sure an emergency rescue worker will always be three minutes away? Sure enough to risk your life on it?
Practically speaking, the only chance a sudden cardiac arrest victim has for resuscitation is a shock from a defibrillator as soon as possible. According to the AHA (American Heart Association), defibrillation should be administered within the first three minutes of cardiac arrest.
