Cheryl Anne DeHartCertified AED Specialist
Maryland, Delaware, and Washington DC |
Thank you for visiting my Web page.
My name is Cheryl Anne DeHart and I’m proud to be known as the “AED expert” in Maryland, Delaware, and Washington DC. I earned the “AED expert” title over the four years I’ve been with Cardiac Science – the only company with a dedicated team of highly trained, consultative local AED experts throughout the US.
I consider it an honor to be in the business of saving lives and I am currently a top manager with my company. I've worked in the medical field for more than 20 years, serving cardiologists and other medical professionals. My clients tell me my knowledge, passion, and follow-through are my strengths. I love what I do and feel good about educating the public on SCA (sudden cardiac arrest) and AEDs (automated external defibrillators). I truly make a difference!
Cardiac Science AED training is the most thorough in the industry.
I am a Certified AED Specialist, having completed coursework in:
• Master’s Coursework in Electrocardiography (To understand the heart and heart disease).
• Healthcare Sales Ethics Training (We take honesty and integrity seriously).
• Heart Anatomy & Physiology (To understand the heart and heart disease).
• FDA Regulations (To understand medical device regulations + compliance).
• State AED Regulations (Understanding DE, MD & DC legal requirements).
• AED/CPR Training (I can save a life!).
• Defibrillation Best Practices Parts I + II (To best address your AED needs).
• AED Program Design (To design your complete AED program).
• Funding + Grant Assistance (To find creative solutions for tight budgets).
• AED Program Liabilities (To address any liability concerns you may have).
Your AED program can benefit from my experience.
I've deployed more than 2,000 AEDs, helped design more than 50 AED programs, and assisted/continue to assist the following AED programs:
• Baltimore County Project Heartbeat (Public Access Defibrillation).
• Baltimore County (elementary and high schools), the only county in Maryland with AEDs in all schools.
• Schools and universities including Howard University in DC, Towson University in MD, Sterck/Delaware School for the Deaf, Cecil County Community College in MD, and Community College of Baltimore, MD.
• Corporations including United Therapeutics in Silver Spring, MD.
• Property management facilities including Gilbane Corporation, St. John’s Properties in MD, and Akridge in DC.
• Law firms including Miles & Stockbridge in MD.
• The NLRB, NIH, USPS, EPA, Army, and Navy in Washington, DC. I also deployed the first AED in the government Wilson building in District 5 Ward with council member Harry Thomas Jr.
• US Lacrosse and Aloha Tournaments.
• Fire & EMS including Perryville Fire and Magnolia/Joppa Fire Department.
The most satisfying part of my job?
When I learn a Powerheart AED – there because I sold it – saved one of the more than one million lives worldwide that are otherwise lost each year.
Practically speaking, the only chance a sudden cardiac arrest victim has for resuscitation is a shock from a defibrillator as soon as possible. According to the AHA (American Heart Association), defibrillation should be administered within the first three minutes of cardiac arrest.
Active in the community? Am I ever!
I am committed to getting AEDs in every work place, which is definitely not a 9-to-5 job! For starters, I am very passionate about pool safety in Maryland. I work with Senator Katherine Klausmeir to make heartsafe environments at all public pools in the state. On our blog you can read "AED Maryland Pool Safety" and about a "Maryland AED lawsuit" waged against a pool without an AED. I also work with the Connors Care Foundation and Debbie Neagle-Freed for the cause.
I work closely with a number of parents from “Parent Heart Watch.” Many have lost children and advocate AED legislation to bring publicly accessible defibrillation to all schools. Some initiatives include Rita & Richard Helgeson's effort called "Andrew’s Law," Stewart Krug's "Mathew Krug Foundation," and Rachel Moyer's "Greg Moyer Foundation."
I bring an abundance of activism, scope, and resources (including grant funds and community education) to these and other AED advocates.
In closing,
I hope you will take advantage of my AED/CPR expertise. Engage me in a conversation to be prepared … in case the unthinkable happens in your workplace, your children’s schools, your community center … anywhere that two or more people meet.
I look forward to your email or call.
Thanks for reading.
