New Stress Product From Cardiac Science Connects to Echo and Nuclear Systems

Enhancement Adds Connectivity Features for Improved Workflow
November 5, 2008
BUSINESS WIRE

BOTHELL, Wash. -- Cardiac Science Corporation, a global leader in advanced cardiac diagnosis, resuscitation, rehabilitation, and informatics products, announced today the launch of the fourth generation of Burdick(R) HeartStride(TM) exercise stress systems. This new version adds echo and nuclear systems connectivity to the existing connectivity with EMR/other systems.

"With the connection to echocardiography and nuclear devices," began Rene Mitchell, Cardiac Science director of diagnostic marketing, "HeartStride allows the stress and imaging systems to use the same ECG signal. That's significant. Now the systems base their assessments off the same tracing."

HeartStride 4.0 also enhances workflow. With a single log-in to the EMR, a clinician can download information and orders directly to HeartStride and upload results directly to a patient's record.

Additional benefits in the new stress system include:

-- Multiple protocols. The system offers eight standard, preprogrammed protocols, a pharmacological protocol, options for manual control, and a full range of in-test and final report configurations for tailored documentation.

-- Ease of Use. The system features an intuitive interface and a simple mouse click changes testing protocols. The proprietary Logistep(TM) features move the user through testing protocols with ease.

-- Real-Time Displays. The large screen displays all heartbeats all the time, even during changes to protocol.

-- Accuracy. Automated impedance checks ensure the best possible trace quality, minimizing the need for repeat tests.

HeartStride's functionality is complemented by Cardiac Science's industry-leading TM55 and TM65 treadmills. Powered by Ultradrive(TM), a digitally controlled AC-drive system, the treadmills are smooth, quiet, and capable of carrying a 500-pound patient.
