BUSINESS WIRE

BOTHELL, Wash., Jul 14, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) – Cardiac Science today announced the launch of its HeartCentrix® 6.2 data management product for the physician office. HeartCentrix is the only solution that connects Burdick® and Quinton® equipment to an EMR system, giving access to test results remotely and across locations with a single sign-on from within the EMR itself. Cardiac Science (NASDAQ:CSCX) is a global leader in advanced cardiac diagnosis, resuscitation, rehabilitation, and informatics products.

"With HeartCentrix, our GEMMS ONE® electronic medical record (EMR) system now provides immediate access to patient information and we don't have to worry about losing the hard copy of test results," said Dr. David Griffen from Heart Clinic Arkansas. "If a patient suddenly presents with chest pain, we can go to his electronic chart immediately for the critical information we need. It's all right there at our fingertips."

HeartCentrix saves time and paper, eliminates errors, helps to ensure patient safety, and communicates bi-directionally with many Burdick and Quinton devices. The 6.2 version offers four new features versus the prior release, namely:

  • HeartCentrix 6.2 interfaces with the Burdick Universal ECG, a PC-based ECG solution;
  • HeartCentrix 6.2 is certified with the Allscripts® UAI interface;
  • HeartCentrix 6.2 supports VISTA and remains Windows® compatible; and
  • HeartCentrix 6.2 allows local printing, supplementing EMR systems' printing capabilities.

"Connectivity is becoming more important in cardiac diagnostic testing," began Rene Mitchell, director of diagnostic marketing for Cardiac Science. "In fact, connectivity is so important that all our Burdick Atria® 3100 or 6100 ECG devices now come with Ethernet communications as a standard option. Cardiac Science is always seeking to provide greater value to our customers--and this new HeartCentrix release is one more way we meet that goal."

HeartCentrix is easy to understand and use. Its familiar Windows-based interface flows left to right in a logical progression. Using a single sign-on from within the EMR, users can download orders and patient demographics directly to Burdick and Quinton diagnostic devices, upload results back to the EMR after tests are performed, and review and edit test results at the office or any remote location.
