Cardiac Science delivers largest order of electrocardiograph systems in company history

March 11, 2008

Bothell, WA – Cardiac Science Corporation, a global leader in advanced cardiac diagnosis, resuscitation, rehabilitation, and informatics products, announced that Mexico's Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (ISSSTE) ordered 282 electrocardiograph systems (ECGs) – the single largest ECG order in Cardiac Science history. Instrumentation Technologies de México, Cardiac Science's exclusive distributor in Mexico, managed the sale.

ISSSTE is Mexico's main Mexican hospital network for millions of government workers. Seeking a leader in connectivity technology, ISSSTE chose Cardiac Science to upgrade services throughout the hospital system and give healthcare practitioners in remote locations access to faraway cardiology experts. Cardiac Science ECG devices come with communications features to network ECG patient data and allow practitioners to send ECG results to hospital information (HIS), electronic medical record (EMR), and other systems throughout the network.

"This purchase by ISSSTE adds high performance, connected, feature-rich devices to its network," said Kurt Lemvigh, international vice president, Cardiac Science. "The scale of this delivery illustrates the international demand for new generations of ECG technology and Cardiac Science's ability to meet that demand with advanced informatics solutions."

"ISSSTE is committed to its mandate of providing high quality medical services to the millions of civil servants who serve Mexico's people," said Dr Salvador Gonzalez Jaramillo, Jefe de Servicios de Desarrollo de Infraestructura. "We chose the Burdick® Atria® 6100 ECG system and Cardiac Science because their products are durable and we are enthusiastic about the new capabilities in this generation of ECGs. The units have 12-channel waveform, a large color LCD, and can store up to 300 ECG records. The communications features alone justified bringing the 6100 to our facilities nationwide – even to replace existing older ECGs that continue to serve solidly. Plus, the machines connect us with practitioners whose only means to transmit data today is fax and modem."

All Cardiac Science electrocardiographs can be integrated using HeartCentrix, the Cardiac Science cardiac informatics system, to connect with HIS, EMR, and other systems. The ECG devices all include options for Wi-Fi, wired Ethernet, wireless 802.11 communications, and Bluetooth connectivity.
