Endre Devai, Chief Executive Officer and President of Hungary-based Innomed Medical Zrt., and his daughter, Dalma Devai, General Manager of Med-Rent Company (an Innomed subsidiary), visited the Cardiac Science headquarters earlier this week.

Cardiac Science Area Manager Tamas Kecskeméti gave them a quick tour and we were lucky to catch them for a quick interview.

Thanks so much for visiting us today! Tell our readers a bit about your company.

Endre: Innomed is the largest medical device manufacturer in Hungary. We just celebrated 20 years in business and we’ve enjoyed 10 years distributing Cardiac Science AEDs, which we consider to be the best available. In addition, we acquired some Cardiac Science technology a few years ago. With this technology, we make manual defibrillators, market them around the world, and pay you a residual on each sale.

That’s very interesting. I’m sure many of our readers did not know that. How much awareness is there about AEDs in Hungary?

Tamas: I can answer this question because I know all the competitors are present in the Hungary market including local foreign manufactured AEDs.

Tell us, what do you like about working with Cardiac Science, and what can we do better?

Dalma: I think we get pretty good service from Cardiac Science, so I don’t think that there is anything to improve.  The product is reliable, customers like it.

Endre: It’s the best AED product.

Dalma: It is the best AED product.

Endre: The relationship between Cardiac Science and Innomed started at a time when probably Cardiac Science was the only AED manufacturer present, not only in Hungary, but in Europe, like eight years ago.

Tamas: Innomed recognized that AEDs have a great future. They did not have an AED and they selected Cardiac Science as the best technology. This is why they started to distribute our AEDs.  It is truly uncommon for a manufacturer to distribute someone else’s product.

I don’t know if you saw, we recently featured a story on our blog. I understand your employee just saved a life?

Dalma: Yes, Gyula Ősz is our “Office Hero.” He saved a man in an open-air market because he had a Powerheart in the trunk of his car.

His son left a comment: “I’m very proud of him. He is my dad!”

Dalma: Yes, we are also proud. We don’t always learn about these stories. In Hungary people do not want to talk about how their life got saved. We only hear about the celebrities, usually.

But we have deployed Powerheart AEDs with the guards of the Hungarian government. The Prime Minister and the President have defibrillators in their cars.

How interesting!

Dalma: And in their homes. Cardiac Science AEDs are in the National Theater, in big Hungarian Banks, in Hungarian football stadiums, and Malev, our national airline, has our devices on the plane.

Endre: They are in the US Embassy too.

The last thing I’ll ask you is, What would you like to say to your customers?

Dalma: I would recommend all companies, government offices, and ministries to have this device because sudden cardiac arrest can happen anywhere at any time. It is really important to have an automated external defibrillator when it happens. So they have to think about it and realize the important of the device.
