Gaines Adams, 26, died Sunday morning at a Greenwood, S.C., hospital of cardiac arrest, according to the local coroner James T. Coursey. He was the defensive end for the Chicago Bears. Still young in his career, Adams only got to play in 12 games with the Bears. He was previously with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Adams was pronounced dead at the emergency room of Self Regional Hospital. An autopsy is planned by Anderson County officials and the cause of death is said to be cardiac arrest due to an enlarged heart.
