The American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles and Cardiac Science co-hosted a free AED seminar at the Greater Los Angeles ARC chapter.

15 companies took part in a very interactive and informative presentation discussing AED/CPR training to create awareness about the importance of having AEDs available at every place of business.

AED Expert Brandon Kahan, territory manager for Cardiac Science, demonstrated the proper use of an AED and President of KBMF Resources Daren Lauraneno, alive today in part because there was an automated external defibrillator in his meeting room when he fell to sudden cardiac arrest, spoke to the crowd.

Doctors told Laureano three Es saved his life: early CPR, early defibrillation, and early medical services.

Mark Hollomon, a paramedic from the Compton Fire Department spoke to the audience about the importance of AEDs in public areas and how the simplicity of use can save a life.

Participating company Helen Grace Chocolates won a Powerheart AED G3 Automatic and the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles gave discount vouchers for an AED and training to all the companies in attendance.

Participants also toured the chapter’s new Emergency Operation Center, witnessed the chapter’s disaster preparedness and learned how their investment in Red Cross training provides countless services for the community as a whole.
