Billy Mays: cardiac arrest?
Billy Mays’ cause of death has not yet been determined. From the Associated Press, “Tampa police said Mays was found unresponsive by his wife Sunday morning. A fire rescue crew pronounced him dead at 7:45 a.m. It was not immediately clear how he died.”
While we have no proprietary knowledge of the circumstances of Billy Mays death, cardiac arrest causes heart function to cease abruptly and without warning.
When this occurs, the heart is no longer able to pump blood to the rest of the body, and in over 90% of victims, death occurs.
Sudden cardiac arrest “is actually the most common cause of death in the United States,” says Dr. Bruce Lindsay, a past president of the Heart Rhythm Society and director of cardiac electrophysiology at the Cleveland Clinic.
We’ll keep an eye out to learn if Billy Mays is the second celebrity sudden cardiac arrest to happen in under a week.

Another “celebrity” who was 50 just died. He had a lot going for him.
May Billy Mays rest in peace despite some of the negative things people say.
