Saved by Mt. Vernon Fire & Rescue and a
Powerheart AED G3 Pro
Arlene and Bert Athearn walk the same path every day. But July 17, 2007 was unlike any stroll they’d ever take.
One moment walking fine. The next, Arlene fell to the ground, a victim of sudden cardiac arrest. Married 49 years, husband Bert did not know what to do.
Bert ran to the nearest house for help but no one was home. By the time he returned to the sidewalk, neighbor Barbara Rock had already stopped her car and raced to Arlene and began administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
First responder Dave Storey from Mt. Vernon Fire & Rescue was on the scene within minutes and, using the Powerheart AED G3 Pro, was able to revive Arlene.
It’s a reaffirming piece. Click to view Bert + Arlene's story.
